John Smit is South Africa’s most decorated captain, leading the Springboks to World Cup glory in France in 2007 and to a series win over the British and Irish Lions in 2009. He earned 111 Test caps between 2000 and 2011, captaining his country in 83 of those matches. A versatile front-rower at hooker and prop, Smit is considered one of the great rugby leaders of his generation.
