Victor Matfield is widely regarded as the greatest lock in rugby history, earning 127 Test caps for South Africa between 2001 and 2015. The master of the lineout, he anchored the Springbok pack that won the 2007 Rugby World Cup and defeated the British and Irish Lions in 2009. He is consistently named in all-time world XV selections and redefined what it meant to be a modern lock forward.
