Francois Pienaar was the Springbok captain who led South Africa to victory in the 1995 Rugby World Cup, defeating New Zealand 15-12 in Johannesburg. He earned 29 Test caps and captained the Springboks in every single one of them. The moment President Nelson Mandela — wearing Pienaar’s No. 6 jersey — handed him the Webb Ellis Cup became one of the most iconic images in the history of sport.
