Duane Vermeulen is a South African number 8 who earned over 80 caps for the Springboks and was named World Rugby Player of the Tournament at the 2019 Rugby World Cup. His man-of-the-match performance in the 2019 final against England — carrying, tackling and controlling the tempo — is considered one of the great individual displays in World Cup history. He was a cornerstone of the Springbok forward pack throughout his career.
