Frans Steyn is a South African utility back born on 14 June 1987 in Aliwal North, legendary for his extraordinary long-range kicking ability that can threaten from anywhere on the field. He won his first Rugby World Cup medal as a 20-year-old in 2007 and remarkably returned 16 years later to claim a second winner’s medal with the 2023 squad, one of the longest gaps between World Cup victories in rugby history. He can play centre, fullback, or flyhalf and is regarded as one of the most uniquely gifted kickers South Africa has ever produced.
