Eben Etzebeth is a South African lock born on 29 October 1991 in Bellville, Cape Town, widely regarded as one of the greatest locks in rugby history. He is South Africa’s most-capped Test player of all time with 141 caps, having broken Victor Matfield’s long-standing record in 2024, and was a cornerstone of the 2019 and 2023 World Cup-winning squads, earning World Rugby Player of the Year nominations. Etzebeth is known for his ferocious defence, lineout dominance, and unmatched physicality across more than a decade at Test level.
