Francois Pienaar was the Springbok captain who led South Africa to their first Rugby World Cup title in 1995. Born on 2 January 1967 in Vereeniging, the flanker played 29 Tests for South Africa, captaining the side 27 times. His moment receiving the trophy from President Nelson Mandela at Ellis Park became one of the most iconic images in sporting history.
