The 2025 Springbok hooker position features competition between incumbent Malcolm Marx and challengers like Johan Grobbelaar and Bongi Mbonambi, with Marx likely remaining the first choice despite injury concerns. Grobbelaar has impressed with his scrummaging and lineout throwing, while Mbonambi provides experienced depth. Coach Rassie Erasmus will monitor performances throughout Super Rugby and international fixtures to finalize selections for major tournaments.
