John Smit is one of South Africa’s greatest captains, leading the Springboks to the 2007 Rugby World Cup title in Paris where they defeated England 15-6 in the final. He earned 111 caps between 2000 and 2011, playing as hooker and loosehead prop, and captained South Africa in 83 Tests — a record at the time of his retirement.
