Bakkies Botha is a former Springbok lock born on 22 March 1979 in Bronkhorstspruit. He played 80 Tests for South Africa between 2002 and 2012, forming one of world rugby’s most feared lock partnerships alongside Victor Matfield. Physically imposing and relentlessly aggressive, he was a cornerstone of the Springbok pack that won the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
