Tendai Mtawarira, nicknamed ‘The Beast’, is a former Springbok loosehead prop born on 15 August 1985 in Harare, Zimbabwe. He played 117 Tests for South Africa between 2008 and 2019, becoming one of the most feared scrummagers in world rugby. He is best remembered for dismantling the British and Irish Lions scrum in the 2009 Test series.
