Bakkies Botha is a South African lock born on 22 March 1979 who earned 87 Springbok caps and was one of the most feared and physical forwards in world rugby during the 2000s and early 2010s. A Rugby World Cup winner in 2007, he formed what many consider the greatest second-row partnership in history alongside Victor Matfield. Botha was renowned for his physicality, lineout power and ferocious defence.
