Joost van der Westhuizen was a South African scrumhalf who earned 89 caps and scored 38 Test tries between 1993 and 2003, a Springbok record at the time of his retirement. He was a pivotal figure in the 1995 Rugby World Cup triumph and became iconic for his try-saving tackle on Jonah Lomu in the final. Joost passed away on 6 February 2017 after a long battle with motor neuron disease, aged 45.
