South Africa beat New Zealand 15-12 in the 1995 Rugby World Cup final at Ellis Park, Johannesburg on 24 June 1995. The score was 9-9 at full time, sending the match into extra time, where Joel Stransky kicked the decisive drop goal. It was South Africa’s first Rugby World Cup final and one of the most politically significant sporting events of the 20th century.
