Eben Etzebeth is South Africa’s most-capped player in history, having surpassed Victor Matfield’s record of 127 caps to accumulate approximately 135 Test caps as of 2025. Born in 1991, he debuted in 2012, played in every World Cup from 2015 to 2023, and was central to the 2019 and 2023 victories. His raw physicality, lineout mastery, and relentless defence have made him one of the greatest locks the game has seen.
