South Africa won the 1995 Rugby World Cup, defeating New Zealand 15-12 in the final at Ellis Park in Johannesburg. The victory, led by captain François Pienaar and featuring Jonah Lomu's dominant performances for the All Blacks, became a defining moment for post-apartheid South Africa and the sport's global expansion. It was the first World Cup hosted in Africa.
