Three South African players have won the World Rugby Player of the Year award: Schalk Burger in 2004, Bryan Habana in 2007, and Pieter-Steph du Toit in 2019. Du Toit’s award came in the same year the Springboks won their third World Cup title, making 2019 the most decorated year in modern Springbok history.
