South Africa won the 2023 Rugby World Cup, defeating New Zealand in the final to claim their fourth world title—more than any other nation. Remarkably, the Springboks won three consecutive knockout matches by exactly 1 point against France, England, and New Zealand. They also became the first team to win the World Cup after losing a pool match.
