Eben Etzebeth is South Africa’s most-capped Test player of all time, having surpassed Victor Matfield’s record of 127 caps in September 2024 and extended the mark to 141 caps. Matfield’s 127-cap career spanned 2001 to 2015 and had stood as the record for nearly a decade before Etzebeth broke it. Both were cornerstone locks in World Cup-winning Springbok squads.
